SCPTSA Art Grants Guidelines

Family-School Partnership Goal: Supporting Student Success

Does your PTA/PTSA need extra funds to support a student?

ART PROGRAM?

PTA believes that all children deserve a quality arts education. An arts education enhances a student's intellectual, personal, and social development. The Seattle Council PTSA is pleased to announce an Art Grants program for Seattle PTAs to support student art.

AWARD GUIDELINES

Grant requests must briefly describe how the funds will be used to support student experiences in art, including music, dance, theater, literature, and visual arts. PTA units may only receive one grant of up to $400 for the school year. PTA units must be associated with the Seattle Council PTSA. Approximately $2,000 is currently available for grants. (Depending on the success of the Art Grants program, additional funds may be allocated.) Applications must be signed by your PTA president or authorized PTA representative.

Grant applicants may want to link their program with the PTA Reflections Art Program. (See www.pta.org and search on “art.”)

Priority consideration given to:
• New and less well-developed PTAs.
• PTAs working with significant numbers of families whose students are bilingual and/or participating in the Free and Reduced Lunch program.

WHAT TYPES OF FUNDING REQUESTS QUALIFY?

The goal of the program is to provide students with arts experiences.
Applications should show how the grant will directly increase the number of students with access to art activities. Grant funds may be used to purchase supplies, to provide time for teaching artists or community arts organizations to work with students or teachers, or support for certificated art specialist, but may not be used for art coordinator costs or other indirect costs.
